Nominations sought for 4th Annual TMCC-NFA Legacy Award
|
TMCC-NFA is now accepting nominations from our members for the 4th Annual Legacy Award. This special award recognizes a chapter member who truly lives our NFA values—someone who consistently shows up for colleagues by supporting academic freedom, shared governance, employee rights, collective bargaining, and more.
|
The honoree will receive a desk award, a framed certificate, and a $500 stipend, but most importantly, they’ll receive the appreciation of their peers. Past recipients include Blisin Hestiyas (2023), Mark Maynard (2024), and Julia Hammett (2025); each leaving a meaningful mark on our chapter in their own way.
If you know someone who deserves this recognition, we encourage you to nominate them. This year’s recipient will be announced at our end of year celebration, and we can’t wait to honor another outstanding member of our professional community.

Department Chair evaluations commencing
|
TMCC-NFA will hold the annual evaluation of department chairs from April 15th through the 26th, as outlined in the TMCC NFA Contract. During this time, teaching faculty will receive an email with clear instructions on how to share feedback about their department chair.
All evaluations are strictly confidential. No identifying information will be linked to any submission, allowing faculty to provide honest and thoughtful input.
This evaluation is an opportunity to recognize the important work department chairs do and to offer constructive feedback that can support their continued growth. The process is guided by the chair’s responsibilities as described in Article 10 of the TMCC NFA Contract, and is intended to encourage reflection, improvement, and ongoing professional development.

TMCC-NFA officer nominations sought
|
With the current term for all TMCC-NFA Chapter officers ending on June 30, we invite you to consider serving in a leadership role, or to nominate a colleague. This is a valuable opportunity for experienced faculty to share their expertise protecting faculty rights and for newer faculty to participate in shared governance, and help shape TMCC’s future.
Any chapter member in good standing may nominate themselves or others for one or more officer positions: president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer. Nominations will be open April 27–May 1 via a Google form sent to all members. Verified nominees will receive a secure voting link from ElectionBuddy, with voting held May 4–15.
Newly elected officers will serve July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. Outgoing officers will remain available to support a smooth transition.
