Look for the TMCC-NFA table during kickoff
|
Look for the NFA table on the plaza during this year's fall semester kickoff on Friday, August 15th and pick up some SWAG to start the year. Members are invited to grab their share, including the new 20 oz. travel mug, as well as t-shirts, buttons, and tchotchkes.
Eligible non-members can complete a membership application and then dip into the goodies. If you plan to apply, please bring your Workday employee ID with you.

We will also have some non-lethal lawn games to determine who are the best bocce players and tossers (bean bags, that is) at TMCC!

First chapter meeting of academic year set for August 29th
|
All rank and file academic and administrative faculty are encouraged to join us for the first TMCC-NFA chapter meeting of the 2025-26 academic year. It will be held online using Google Meet at 12:00 PM, Friday, August 29.
This meeting will be held following the first two contract negotiating sessions. It will give the negotiating team an opportunity to update members on the proceedings and refine our priorities going forward.
Other topics will include discussions about the new leadership at NSHE at the Board of Regents. We anticipate there will be aggressive action to weaken faculty rights, collective bargaining, and shared governance. See the agenda and feel free to contact any TMCC-NFA officer with suggestions you have for meeting topics.

Bowlers sought for September 27th union tournament
|
Last year, a small but intrepid group of TMCC-NFA members put it all on the line for the honor of their colleagues when they competed against other union teams in the Solidarity & Spares bowling tournament to support union activities. They didn't win any trophies, but they did generate lots of laughs and brought home some great memories.
|
Again this year, TMCC-NFA is hoping to field a team for the tournament, which is scheduled for 1:00 to 5:00 PM, Saturday, September 27th at the National Bowling Stadium. Sponsored by the law firm GGRM, the tournament offers cash prizes for the top teams. Team members can also bring family and friends to enjoy the open bowling lanes, a photo booth, face-painting, and giveaways.

Negotiations on new TMCC-NFA contract begin next week
|
After gathering member input through surveys, meetings, and forums last spring, the TMCC-NFA contract negotiating team is preparing to enter formal collective bargaining sessions with the administration starting next week. The first negotiation session will be held on Monday, August 18th, followed by another on August 21st. Subsequent sessions will be held every Friday morning, except on holidays, through the remainder of the semester.
The TMCC-NFA Collective Bargaining Council will send regular updates to chapter members and may seek input from individuals or constituency groups on proposals as negotiations proceed. You can find more information, as well as the names and email addresses for members of the Collective Bargaining Council on the TMCC-NFA website.

New form will help with legal defense requests for members
|
To simplify the process for members to request NFA's assistance in resolving workplace disputes and create a more efficient system of tracking those requests, TMCC-NFA has developed a new legal defense form.
If you are experiencing an employment-related issue that may lead to a grievance or other legal remedies, we encourage you to complete this form.
|
The TMCC-NFA Legal Defense Committee will evaluate each submission and work with you to help find an equitable resolution.
